APOD #1

     The picture I that really caught my attention was taken in central Iran toward the end of August. The majority of the picture is not of the sky at all but is of rippled desert sand the little life that survives on it. During this time of the year it was expected that Mars would be shinning brightest on the horizon but as the pictures shows, it was in fact Venus that was brightest but Mars can be seen just to the upper-right of Venus. I like this picture because I love when the sky is clear enough that the planets can be plainly seen and I think the blues and purples of the sky are really pretty and calming.
